Biography of Debra Moore
Debra Moore has devoted most of her life to education, initially as an English instructor (grades 6-college) and, since 1993, as a consultant helping teenagers and adults achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. Diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder at age 38, Debra spent 9 years working with ADD and non-ADD clients as Senior Educational Coordinator at the Brainworks Center. In addition to working with clients, she wrote a number of articles dealing with ADD for regional and national periodicals, coauthored books on ADD management strategies (ADD Quick Tips) and spelling / writing skills (The Most Wanted Words). She also served as editor for a revised workbook for teenagers who need to improve their communication skills and problem-solving abilities (Teenage Connection).
In August 2002, Debra began her own consulting / coaching business in her hometown of Carrollton, Texas; while her clients include those who are not ADD, she spends a significant portion of her time in one-to-one work sessions with ADD students and adults. In addition, Debra gives presentations for teacher inservice training, PTA groups, and state/regional conferences, as well as write articles on a range of educational and personal improvement topics. Her lively workshops combine humor with solid information and practical strategies for successful management of real-life problems.
In 2006, she was honored with the Esser Award for Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Attention Deficit Disorders Association-Southern Region.
